Immediate danger

Call 911 or have the victim escorted to the nearest MTF emergency department. Then notify your SARC so a safety assessment is completed. Do not wait for an HRRT to act on an immediate safety issue.

Military Protective Order (DD Form 2873)

  1. Issue an MPO, DD 2873, to the alleged offender if requested by the victim, and after consultation with legal.
  2. If circumstances warrant protection, and only after consultation with the MCIO and SJA, an MPO may be issued without the victim's request.
  3. Give signed copies to the victim and the suspect.
  4. Through installation law enforcement, place the MPO in NCIC for the duration of the order.
  5. Advise the victim that an MPO is not enforceable off base; a civilian protective order covers off-base protection.

Proximity to the subject

Ensure the victim and the alleged offender do not remain in the same work or living area. A safety move handles danger; an Expedited Transfer does not.

High-Risk Response Team

When a victim is assessed to be in a high-risk situation, the Installation Commander stands up an HRRT. You chair it as the victim's immediate commander, with the Lead SARC as co-chair, report within 24 hours, and brief weekly until the risk is resolved. It is documented on DD Form 2910-7 and is inspectable.
